Anti-Islam Extremists in US Congress

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Seriously… I have no idea how these Congressmen and Congresswomen can say what they say with a straight face.

Pay close attention to their language… “infiltrate”?! It’s 100% normal and expected that any advocacy group encourage it’s folks to become interns in the political process. It’s happened with every single ethnic group, religious group, and industry in the history of the US. Somehow, being Muslim makes it different.

Unfortunately, the nature of a two-party system will be for people to polarize and say, “Oh, this Rachel Maddow woman is a liberal… I am not a liberal… so I disagree with Rachel Maddow.” Which, of course, is backward logic.

We (the US) used to be a nation of thinkers… not anymore… to many people are going to watch this and become emotional one way or the other. When, in reality, watching this should spark thought… it should spark investigation and exploration of ones own thoughts and feelings and why they are the way they are.

Too many people will do no such thing… after all, there are other videos one click away… there’s email… there’s football… there’s American Idol… and Rush is trying to buy the Rams…

…there’s no time to think.

U.S. non-profit invests tax-free millions in East Jerusalem land

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Interesting article on how one group is evading US taxes as a tax-exempt non-profit organization. What are they doing with the money collected? They’re buying up Arab-owned land in East Jerusalem… clearly something quite political in nature. Non-profits, however, are forbidden from engaging in such activity.

Bill Gives Attorney General Power To Designate Gun Owners, Tax Protesters As Terrorists

Attorney General Power To Designate Gun Owners, Tax Protesters As Terrorists

Amendments to the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act, which has already been passed by the House, would empower the Attorney General Eric Holder to define gun owners, anti-abortion activists and tax protesters as domestic terrorists in light of recent federal reports that classify millions of Americans as “extremists”.

Former impeached Florida judge and now Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings has introduced amendments to H.R. 2647: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010, which would give Holder dictator powers to demonize legitimate protest groups as being affiliated with violent race hate organizations.

Illegal to Grow Your Own Food in the US?

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

You laugh… some people think that’s coming down the pike.

Check out this link:

==> Illegal to Grow Own Food <==

I think the blog post goes a little too overboard in the interpretation of the proposed bill. But I thought the blog post was interesting since it gives us one possible means for ad-Dajjal (the AntiChrist) to control food and wealth as described in the ahadeeth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) (described in Ahmad & others).

Anyway, I think the anonymous comment left below the article is closer to reality when it comes to interpreting this bill. Here’s the quote:

Overall, a good review of a highly relevant and suspicious bill. However, there are a few items needing expansion/correction.

The danger in (1) lies in the definition of “unsafe.” As of yet, organic is not necessarily unsafe and thus is left open to administrative whim. However, the “food establishment” in section (3) is elsewhere defined to exempt farmers and growers, so no license is required to grow food in your backyard.

It still leaves farmers open to unconstitutional search and seizure, so I encourage everyone to write their congressman and letters to local editors demanding that this bill be revised to exempt anyone who produces food for direct sale or transfer to the end consumer. Safeguards are great when we’re talking about megaproducers that receive only delayed and diluted feedback/repercussions, but free market competition supports honesty and accountability in farmers that sell their products locally and face-to-face.

US Activist Needs Brain Surgery After Being Injured By Israeli Military

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

I find this story interesting on several levels…

  • 1 – It highlights one individual. Usually our media highlights one individual when that individual is Israeli. It’s bittersweet to see someone with individual coverage when they are protesting Israeli apartheid and aggression. I look forward to the day when our media cover one individual Palestinian or one Palestinian family.
  • 2 – Crowd control measures and anti-protest measures are not benign. I am tired of media coverage that mentions “rubber bullets” and “tear gas” as afterthoughts.
  • 3 – The reason for the protest was actually mentioned… although probably not enough. “They traveled to the West Bank to rally against the Israeli-erected barrier that could cut off Palestinian villages from valuable farmland.” No mention of starvation, inequality, military occupation, etc. No mention that the land belongs to families that depend on it for food.
  • 4 – There were no quotes from people that would inflame the situation even more. Usually there’s what appears to be a deliberate attempt to get emotion reactions from both sides of any conflict… to give the appearance of objectivity… but we know better. Conflict sells. And finding the most emotional, irrational, non-articulate person to speak is par for the course. It’s nice to see an article (despite tragic news) that is not hitting par.
  • 5 – The comments that follow the article are disgusting… from both ends of the spectrum.

Worth Revisiting – Israeli Lobby in US

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

As Iran comes into focus again, it may be time to revisit the Zionist lobby’s role in US Foreign policy. Check out this video from DemocracyNow.org

“In the study ‘The Israel Lobby & U.S. Foreign Policy’, the authors of the paper, Professor Stephen Walt of Harvard University and John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago, charge that the United States has willingly set aside its own security and that of many of its allies in order to advance the interests of Israel. In addition the study accuses the pro-Israeli lobby, particularly AIPAC of manipulating the U.S. media, policing academia and silencing critics of Israel by labeling them as anti-Semitic.”

Obama picks anti-Iran man for Iran post

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

I don’t know… this latest Obama pick doesn’t give me the same warm and fuzzy feeling I usually get with my President. If anything, this has huge potential to mess up a timely opportunity for change in the world.

I once heard of a patient at my hospital telling his surgeon (a friend of mine) that Obama was a “post turtle”. When asked what a post turtle was, the man responded… “I don’t know. A turtle on a post. You gotta wonder, how did he get there? Someone had to put ‘im there. And then you wonder… how’s he gonna get down?” If someone really did put him on that post, then that same someone is probably pulling the strings on these appointments.

Anyway, I digress… here’s your link: Obama picks anti-Iran man for Iran post

Dennis Ross will provide Mrs. Clinton with “strategic advice and perspective on the region, offer assessments and also act to ensure effective policy integration throughout the region”

… Great… “strategic advice”, “perspective on the region”…

And how does one “ensure effective policy integration throughout the region”? Sounds like a big task, but really is just a bunch of politico-avoid-the-question speak. It almost even sounds unbiased.

Judge Overturns Verdict Against Iraq War Contractor in Fraud Case

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

So, there clearly was fraud, but this contractor apparently defrauded the Coalition Provisional Authority (technically not the US government).

Here’s the link: Judge Overturns Verdict Against Iraq War Contractor in Fraud Case

A federal judge has overturned on a technicality a $10 million jury verdict against a military contractor accused of defrauding the U.S. government in the initial months of the Iraq war.

The verdict, awarded in March against Fairfax-based Custer Battles LLC, had been the first civil fraud verdict arising from the Iraq war. Custer Battles based most of its operations in Rhode Island.

A former Custer Battles employee filed the lawsuit under a whistleblower statute, alleging that Custer Battles used shell companies and false invoices to vastly overstate its expenses on a $3 million contract to assist in establishing a new currency to replace the old Iraqi dinar used during Saddam Hussein’s regime.

The verdict reached $10 million because the law calls for triple damages, plus penalties fines and legal costs.

But U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III, in a ruling made public Friday, ruled that Custer Battles’ accusers failed to prove that the U.S. government was ever defrauded. Any fraud that occurred was perpetrated instead against the Coalition Provisional Authority, formed shortly after the war to run Iraq during the occupation until an Iraqi government was established.

Ellis ruled that the trial evidence failed to show that the U.S. government was the actual victim, even though U.S. taxpayers ultimately footed the bill.

Devaluing the US Currency – This Will Blow Your Mind

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

My electric bill was triple what it was two years ago. Gas prices are almost triple what they were three years ago. Candy bars, milk, education, etc. They’re all higher in price… not because they’re any more valuable today than they were before… not because the companies are greedy… Nope. Our money is worth less.

You might want to watch this video on the devaluing of US currency…
